SMS Opt-In — Patchment Job Updates
This page describes exactly how end users (customers and field technicians of the home-service businesses that use Patchment) consent to receive text messages under the "Patchment Job Updates" program. Patchment (patchment.app) is a product of Blockd International Inc.
Who receives messages
Only customers and field technicians of a business using Patchment — never the general public, and never for marketing. Messages are strictly operational: appointment confirmations, technician en-route/arrival updates, post-service follow-ups, and job-dispatch messages to technicians.
Opt-in path 1 — customer-initiated service text (no keyword)
To opt in through inbound SMS, a customer sends a service-request message to +1 (567) 666-7668 (for example, asking to book a repair or replying about an existing appointment). No keyword is required. Before sending, the customer is told that messages are operational appointment and service updates; message frequency varies, typically 2–6 messages per job; message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help; and consent is not a condition of purchase. See the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
By initiating the conversation, the customer consents to receive replies about that service request on the same number. No unrelated messages are sent.
Opt-in path 2 — verbal consent on a phone call
When a customer calls the business and books or requests service, they are asked for consent before any text is sent, using this script:
"Is it okay if we text you updates about this appointment at this number — booking confirmation, technician updates, and a follow-up? That's usually two to six messages per job. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out any time, and our terms and privacy policy are at patchment.app. Should I sign you up?"
Texts are sent only if the customer answers yes. On a yes the caller is told enrolment is complete: "Great — you'll get a confirmation text shortly." The answer is recorded on the customer's record, and no messages are sent to callers who decline. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service. Program terms: Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Opt-in path 3 — in-person enrolment of field technicians
A field technician is enrolled in person by their employer during onboarding and told they will receive job-dispatch messages (daily briefs, schedule updates) at their number as part of their work. The system then sends one confirmation text and sends nothing further until the technician replies START:
"Patchment for [Business]: You'll receive job briefs and schedule updates here. Reply START to confirm this is [Name]. Reply STOP to opt out."
No job messages are sent to a technician who does not reply START.
Customers who reach the business another way
A customer who arrives through a third-party lead platform (for example, Angi) is not texted on the strength of that platform's contact form. They are called, and receive texts only after consenting through path 1 or path 2 above. A contact request submitted to someone else is not consent to text.
